India is the second most populous country in the world and is home to over 1.3 trillion people. It is lavish and spectacular landscape, abundant natural resources, and the most sought after land of vacation destination. But the biggest concern of today’s time is the serious challenge of large-scale environmental pollution in front of the country.
The Energy Policy Institute (EPIC) at the University of Chicago has ranked India as the second most polluted country in the world. The life of the average Indian has been reduced to less than four years due to the catastrophic situation of environmental pollution in the country. The Government of India has declared a state of emergency for environmental pollution in urban areas.

1. Air pollution:

2. Soil Pollution:
India is witnessing spectacular growth as an industrial sector. As a result, soil pollution is becoming a major concern in most parts of the country. The development of cities in India has led to the use of soil as a sink for sustainable amounts of municipal waste. 3. Water pollution:
Agriculture is a major requirement for the country and obviously the environmental impact on climate has severely affected the monsoon. Massive amounts of waste including toxic chemicals from industries, such as metals, are dumped into rivers and water bodies.
Untreated sewage is known as the biggest source of water pollution in India. Some villages in India still practice open defecation which pollutes the surrounding water bodies. The Ganges and Yamuna are among the 10 most polluted rivers in the world.
4. Noise pollution:
Noise pollution is one of the biggest problems of modern India. Traffic congestion on the streets, the sound of honking noises, factory sirens, loud noises of machines and loud noises of loudspeakers contribute to a tremendous increase in noise pollution. 5. Radioactive Pollution:
It is known as the most dangerous of pollution because the effects of this pollution are permanent. 5. Population overgrowth:
